Existential Comics
Transcendental French Freedom
A comic by Corey Mohler about the inevitable anguish of living a brief life in an absurd world.
Side note: The existentialists in this episode are philosopher, novelist and playwright Jean-Paul Sartre (1905-80) and his life partner, the philosopher, novelist and pioneering feminist Simone de Beauvoir (1908-86). You can read more about Sartre’s thoughts on the themes in this strip in his 1946 book Existentialism is a Humanism (which is short and accessible, like Sartre himself) or in his masterwork Being and Nothingness (1943).
