DEAR EDITOR: I would like to congratulate Colin Wilson on his article ‘Phenomenology as a Mystical Discipline’ in Philosophy Now Issue 56. He has managed to trace the subject from Socrates to Paul Ricoeur via many great philosophers. I would like to add that the findings of modern cognitive science support the view that there is intentionality and creativity in perception. In the book Visual Intelligence: How We Create What We See, the cognitive scientist Donald D.
