Existential Comics
A strip by Corey Mohler on metaphysics and what the world is made of.
Metaphysics is concerned with the underlying structure of reality as opposed to surface appearances. Presocratic philosophers like Thales agreed that the world was made of some underlying substance, but disagreed over what it was. Aristotle, in his Metaphysics, tried to pin down what ‘substance’ meant. Later thinkers argued over the relationship of the world to concepts like God or the noumena. Wittgenstein in his Tractatus, claimed that only propositions which create logical pictures of facts have any meaning at all.
