Dear Editor: I read with amusement the dialogue with ChatGPT in Philosophy Now’s last editorial. To the fundamental question of ‘whether the current King of France has a beard’, your artificial interlocutor replies that there is no way to answer the question, as there is no current king of France. It goes on to explain that France abolished its monarchy in 1792, and “while there have been several attempts to restore the monarchy since then, none has been successful.”

It is true that the National Convention proclaimed the abolition of the monarchy on 21st September 1792. But the monarchy was successfully restored in the country.
