Philosophy in Britain
Philosophy in Britain is the name of a new organisation which has just been set up “to promote the place of philosophy in the public and intellectual life of this country”. (See letters page)
The organisation is based at Leeds University Philosophy Department but already has members around the country. We hope to bring you more news of the activities of this admirable association in Issue 2.
Wittgenstein In the News
In March several newspapers including the Daily Telegraph and the Sun ran stories casting aspersions on the sanity of Ludwig Wittgenstein. Some psychiatrists had announced that the style of Wittgenstein’s writings (particularly the Philosophical Investigations) was typical of an individual suffering from schizophrenia.
